Our 5-hour driving course is available to anyone in Erie County or Niagara County!
The 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course is designed to teach students how to become responsible drivers. During this course, new drivers will learn how to drive a motorized vehicle safely. This course must be successfully completed before scheduling a road test.
This course is mandatory for:
- All first time drivers
- Drivers with expired licenses
- Drivers with revoked licenses

This 5-hour course includes defensive driving techniques, safety belt requirements, and the consequences of being under the influence while operating a motorized vehicle.
The Pre-licensing Course Completion Certificate will be given to each student upon completion of the course. This certificate (MV-278) is valid for one year from the date you completed the course. Please bring this certificate and your learner’s permit with you at the time of the road test. Don’t forget – you will not be allowed to take your road test without it!
